Ripple Effect Fundraiser

ripple_effect_3 (1).jpg

We are thrilled to be honoring the humble, insightful, and incredibly generous Gary Townsend at The Advot Project's Ripple Effect Fundraiser.

Gary Townsend, former Los Angeles County Chief Deputy Assessor and currently Senior Vice President at Englander Knabe & Allen is key to The Advot Project's growth and community impact.

When Gary first raised his hand to volunteer with us, he said, "I experienced Naomi's presentation of "Flowers Aren't Enough" at a conference and thought it was great. I arranged for her to present at my workplace and also got to know her. The love and empowerment she shares in all of her programs, aids in making the world a better place one person at a time. I have enjoyed helping in small ways to ensure the growth of her work."

Since the Fall of 2010, when Gary co-created and joined the board, he has helped in many small and BIG ways. Gary's wisdom, honesty, and sharp sense of humor have been a fierce force behind our ever-growing ripple. For the past nine years, Gary has been quietly advising, connecting, guiding, and supporting our every move.

Please join us in honoring Gary and help us raise money to allow The Advot Project to expand its service to the community.

Purchase a ticket today (by clicking here) and purchase a tribute message or ad. Tribute messages and ads will be printed in our program booklet, displayed on the screens during our event and prominently displayed on our website. We can also help you design your own ads.

Flowers Aren't Enough

FlowersFlyer_SilverlakeJCC.jpg

Flowers Aren’t Enough is a one-woman show which brings light to the subject of domestic violence. It is written, produced, and performed by Naomi Ackerman, and tells the story of Michal, a young woman who falls into an abusive relationship. The show’s power is that it breaks the often-held myth that only uneducated, poor women from bad families are victims. Based on true stories, Ms. Ackerman has woven the voices of women from different cultures and backgrounds into a performance that encourages social change. Flowers Aren’t Enough has been performed internationally over 2,000 times, across 7 continents. The show has been translated into and performed in Arabic, English, Spanish and Hebrew.
